Ring of Fire Expedition Team to the Top of Rinjani

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Ring of Fire Expedition Compass Team on Wednesday (28/09/2011) at 04.00, moving towards the summit of Rinjani. The team will open camp in Plawangan, and will attempt to the summit of Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara.

Expedition Team Leader Ahmad Arif told the Kompas in Jakarta on Wednesday morning, the expedition team events such Pembadak ceremony to ask permission to climb Rinjani. The event was conducted in Sembalun Bumbum.



"The climb will be done in conjunction with indigenous peoples who want to perform rituals at the Rinjani," said Arif.

On the way to Rinjani as part of the Ring of Fire Expedition, the team will try to map the relationship with the community of Mount Rinjani and its economic impact. Pockets of poverty also present in the vicinity of Rinjani.

Ring of Fire Expedition team has been exploring Mount Tambora, Toba Caldera, the Son of Krakatoa, and is now located on Mount Rinjani.
