Report on US Soldiers at PT Freeport Denied - KOMPAS.com: "JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto has denied a report that 70 US soldiers were working at US gold and copper mining company PT Freeport in Papua.

"On the other hand, there are indeed several military retirees working in Freeport and they were recruited through a process applied to civilians," the minister said in a press conference here on Saturday.

Based on clarification result, several security consultants recruited from security service companies are often used in other countries, he said. That condition is also applied in all Freeport branches or other mining companies in other countries"
